And this trend is already gaining momentum. In 2024, multiple crypto index ETFs have launched, including 21Shares' two ETFs regulated under the Investment Company Act of 1940. Hashdex also expanded its Crypto Index US ETF to include XRP, SOL, and Stellar, following an SEC rule change.
But here's where it gets controversial: Peck predicts a surge in new crypto ETF launches, which might challenge the notion that an ETF implies authority or credibility for a cryptocurrency. He suggests that the ease of access and utility provided by these ETFs could drive broader adoption, but the timing remains uncertain.
Interestingly, Peck reflects on the changing landscape, stating that the success of Bitcoin ETFs has exceeded his expectations. He notes that the Bitcoin ETF category has become one of the most competitive in the US ETF market, attracting significant investor interest.
Since the introduction of US-based spot Bitcoin ETFs, these products have seen a staggering $58.83 billion in net inflows, according to Farside.
