Three Lives Lost, Several Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Collision
A deadly crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed three lives and left two others injured, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). The agency confirmed that three vehicles were involved in the collision along the expressway near the Secretariat, in the direction toward the Otedola Bridge.
In an update posted on LASTMA’s X (formerly Twitter) page, officials stated: “Three vehicles were involved in the collision, resulting in three fatalities and several serious injuries.” Emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to aid the victims.
LASAMBUS personnel were on site, providing medical care to the injured, while LASTMA and the Nigerian Police Force coordinated to manage the situation and maintain order. Crews are working to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow. Motorists are urged to exercise caution as they approach the area.
Initial reports indicate the crash occurred when a car traveling toward Berger on the Otedola Bridge collided with a slowly moving truck near the Secretariat.
Preliminary observations suggest the Audi with plate number YAB742CN struck the truck, resulting in severe damage to the car. The impact was so extensive that the vehicle was deemed a total write-off, while the truck driver reportedly fled the scene.
