TOOPERANG Incident Update: A Scrub Fire Near Mount Compass, South Australia

The CFS is currently battling a scrub fire at Tooperang, located near Mount Compass in the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia. The fire is burning in grass and scrub and remains uncontrolled, covering an area of over 400 hectares.
The fire has already caused significant damage, impacting structures and farm sheds between Nangkita Road and Cleland Gully Road. Over 60 CFS fire trucks and more than 200 firefighters, supported by the Metropolitan Fire Service, South Australian Police, and South Australian Ambulance Service, are on the ground. Several aircraft, including firebombers and observational planes, are also aiding in the firefighting efforts.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and Fire Investigators will attend the scene as soon as it is safe to do so.
Road closures are in effect on Nangkita Road and Cleland Gully Road, and emergency services may be working in the area. Motorists are advised to stay clear and drive with caution if they need to travel through the region. Smoke and reduced visibility are affecting the roads, so please avoid the area unless absolutely necessary for your safety and the safety of the firefighters and emergency personnel.
